If you didn’t know any better, you wouldn’t have thought you were watching the same team.
Though the Bombshell Battalion were not able to take home a win, they were definitely all smiles as they headed back to Alliston following a thrilling bout against the Jamazons of Peterborough Roller Derby.
Hosted by Lindsay Roller Derby at the Little Britain Arena, the Bombshells took to a sticky, recently de-iced track to take on the Jamazons in the headliner bout.
The Bombshells had some stiff competition going up against veterans Lucid Lou and 12-Gage for the third time in a row, these derby poltergeists seem to haunt the Bombshells’ bout schedule but they weren’t expecting the kind of fight they got from the ladies in orange and blue. Just four weeks after a walloping from Durham Region’s Atom Smashers, the Bombshells took an early lead and racked up a handsome 96 points in total, but fell to the Jamazons’ 205.
Crowd favourites were Keri Daway, who wowed with her figure footwork, Ali Bam Her Slam Her with her spot-on pivot prowess, Go-Dive-A and her ruthless blocking, and CR8N KAOS’ controversial and confusing two-minute jam that had the bench screaming but bolstered the Bombshells’ score. KimBUSTion, playing opposite her sister Pip Tatters, was selected by the Jamazons as bout MVP after being pulled onto the roster earlier that morning when a teammate fell ill.
All in all the Battalion came away with more energy and enthusiasm than ever and are ready to wow at their next bout here at the Alliston Memorial Arena on May 4th against the Greater Sudbury Roller Derby’s Tatas, followed by their sisters in derby the Misfit Militia battling Les Duchesses of Roller Derby Quebec.
Tickets can be purchased online at ticketscene.ca, at Rumbling Rage Derby Shop 274 Burton Ave in Barrie or Crabby Joe’s in Alliston.
