Nottawasaga OPP were steady with calls for service over the June 6–9, weekend in the Nottawasaga area.

Alcohol was a factor in a few of the calls with officers arresting three males for Liquor Licence Act calls. In one instance, a 22 year old male jumped a fence on Victoria Street West in Alliston and landed in a resident’s backyard in quite an intoxicated state. In another instance, a 37 year old male was found on June 6, at 5:04 p.m. passed out on George Street in Tottenham. A third male was arrested on June 9, 2013 at 3 a.m. when he was heavily intoxicated in a public place on Young Street in Aliston. All of the males were arrested for Liquor Licence Act offences and held until they were sober.

On June 9th, at 1:20 a.m., a Nottawasaga Officer on routine patrol noticed a vehicle driving on and off the gravel shoulder on County Road 90 at the 5th Line of Essa Township. The officer initiated a vehicle stop and as a result of the investigation at the roadside, a 46 year old male from the Kingston area was arrested and charged with one count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and one count of Over 80mgs. His court date is set for June 27 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford.

Police also conducted R.I.D.E programs in the Nottawasaga area taking two suspended drivers and their vehicles off the area roadways.

In a traffic stop over the weekend in Essa Township, officers charged a 51 year old Town of New Tecumseth resident with Possession of unmarked cigarettes for the Purpose of Sale under the Tobacco Act of Ontario. Police seized 18 cartons of unmarked cigarettes from the vehicle. The male will appear in Provincial Offences Court on August 14, to answer to the charge.
