Tim Hortons in Tottenham took part in the annual Camp Day, doing their part to help raise money to send kids to camp last week. The Tottenham location had a celebration with a variety of activities, giveaways and also people washing windows for donations at the drive through. Every year on June 4, Tim Hortons owners donate 100 per cent of proceeds from all coffee sold, as well as the other fundraisers, to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation. Last year, the campaign broke through its record, raising $11.8 million throughout Canada and the United States to help send more than 17,000 kids to camp. “The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation provides more than just a camp experience to every child who attends,” said Dave Newnham, vice president and executive director of the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation in a release. “It’s the opportunity for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to help develop the skills, confidence and positive attitude needed to build a brighter future for themselves.” By the end of 2014, the Foundation will have served more than 200,000 children since its inception in 1974. Aside from the coffee sales and other fundraising activities, customers could make a donation by purchasing a tent or a cabin tag for $2 or $5, round up their purchase and donate the change or donate online at www.sendakidtocamp.com
