Monday, council voted to pass on a vote that would see the installation of ‘No Parking’ signs on the south side of Richmond Street West in Tottenham.
The Richmond Street parking issue has been on the council agenda six or seven times over the past few years, as council has tried to mitigate the concerns of neighbours who share the street with a Masonic Hall used by a local dance company.
Tottenham councillor Jim Stone raised a motion to postpone any decisions on the installation of new signs, asking that residents be advised of the issues before council, allowing them an opportunity to speak to the issue. Councillor JJ Paul Whiteside requested that council members hang on to the pre-printed council package (a multi-page document containing the history of the problem before council) to avoid wasting paper.
Town staff will be in contact with Richmond Street residents to advise them of the next COW meeting date.
