Council members discussed the many requests for grants and donations at Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting. In four categories – General Community Enhancements & Initiatives; Community Events; Arts, Culture and Tourism; and Individual Student / Youth – a total of 49 individual applications were considered.
If approved and ratified by council at the May 12th council meeting, the following grants will be made by the Town of New Tecumseth (Note: ‘*’ denotes same grant amount as 2013):

The two requests in this category are funded through the Link’s for learning Reserve.
During Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, Gibson Centre representative Janette Vander Zaag asked that council look at reinstating the Grants and Donations program, under the Arts, Culture & Tourism banner, back up to $100,000 so that the Gibson could potentially receive the full $25,000 as requested. Council agreed to look at the issue during the next budget session.
