COVID-19 Assessment Centre switching to same-day booking

November 18, 2021   ·   0 Comments

Due to a new IT infrastructure at Ontario Health, Stevenson Memorial Hospital’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre will be switching to same-day appointment booking.

The change became effective as of Wednesday, November 10.

Ontario Health changed the way samples and results are handled and reported and SMH has made some adjustments to its operations to accommodate this change.

Patients will be required to call the Centre on the day they require a COVID-19 test to register for a same-day appointment.

Spots will be reserved for those with upcoming surgeries and planned inductions.

Telephones at the Centre will be answered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 7:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m.

The Centre will continue to operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

It should be noted that only individuals who met the provincial criteria will receive a COVID-19 test.

This includes people who have COVID-19 symptoms, have been exposed to a confirmed case of the virus, as notified by the public health unit or the COVID Alert app, or live or work in a setting that has a COVID-19 outbreak.

It also includes those are in a high-risk group as defined by a provincial heal official, required a test to visit a long-term care resident, or require a test prior to surgery.

Appointments can be booked by calling SMH’s Assessment Centre registration line at 249-501-0383.
