Disappointed in Beeton’s lack of national pride

Dear editor:
Tell me where have all the true Canadians gone? July 1st I had walked the Main street of Beeton and to my dissatisfaction I had noticed that only 2 businesses in our quaint community were flying the Canadian Flag. What is wrong with this picture and this town?
I have bee a resident of this community for 53 years and I have never felt upset about anything in this town until now. Where has the patriotism gone in this community. Even our town library is not flying the flags of Ontario and Canada..Not even the O.P.P office is flying the Canadian Flag.
The lamp posts do not have the flag on them like our neighbouring towns like Bradford – this is totally uncalled for and I will be issuing emails to our MP and to PM Harper telling them how unpatriotic this town is towards Canada. The government should make it law that the Canadian flag be all year round and those business not doing so will be fined. Things like this make me feel ashamed being a true Canadian. Even our neighbouring country, the United States, is flying their flag everywhere you go. Every street in every state is proudly flying their flag and I mean proudly! The problem with this community is that it has been sleeping for too long – get out of the past and move forward… it is time for this town to wake up.
