On May 9th, Nottawasaga OPP officers were dispatched to a report of downed hydro wires located on Dominion Street between Mill Street and Paris Street in Alliston.
Investigation revealed the boom of an excavator that was demolishing a condemned building had struck a hydro line causing a hydro pole with a transformer to be knocked over to the ground. A second hydro pole was also cracked in half but it did not fall over.
Power Stream Hydro attended the scene to turn off power and to conduct repairs. The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) also attended to clean up some spilled oil from the transformer.
The Ministry of Labour (MOL) have been contacted and will be attending the scene to continue the investigation.
There were no injuries reported.
