On Saturday, May 11th, Ernest Cumberland Public School in Alliston celebrated its 20th Anniversary by bringing together past and present students. On hand for the milestone celebration were fire fighters from the New Tecumseth Fire Station #1 Alliston, Nottawasaga OPP officers, the Trillium Ford Lincoln ‘Drive 4 Ur Community’ team, food vendors (Webb’s Catering and ice cream truck) and photographer Bill Tierney. The school also had 60 local businesses provide items for a silent auction fundraiser. For the kids there was face painting, live entertainment and games. Principal Aileen Ross would like to thank the school community for their warm spirit and for helping to celebrate the anniversary. “I’d also like to thank past principals Bob Buckley (the school’s first principal), Ruth Montgomery and Mike Geer for attending,” she said. “Also, thank you to our wonderful School Council for putting it all together and ensuring it went off so smoothly.” The anniversary celebration was dedicated to the memory of former Grade 3 teacher Susan Pursianen, who passed away in March.
