Food drive helps feed families this holiday season

December 18, 2017   ·   0 Comments

Last Tuesday evening, the Alliston Lions Club & Adjala Tosorontio Fire & Rescue hosted the annual Jim Kenn Memorial Food Drive in Everett.

The late Jim Kenn and fire fighter Dave Brooks (aka “Brooksey”) started the food drive at a time when the Alliston Lions Club were struggling to collect enough food to meet local holiday needs.

The event has since become an annual tradition, and a huge contributor to the Christmas Hamper Program. “This year we collected 4,700 pounds of food from Everett, which is about half the food needed for our Christmas Hamper Program,” said Lion, Jaime Karsch. “We are well on our way to helping our community this holiday season and couldn’t do it without the generosity of our contributors.”
