Future of the Tottenham Pond uncertain

May 9, 2013   ·   0 Comments

During a recent meeting of the Tottenham Conservation Area Advisory Committee members discussed the future of the Tottenham Pond and its sustainability into the future.

The committee noted that without long term planning set into place, the pond would continue to “fill in” and become unusable.

Council has already approved the application of Phoslock on the pond, but members agree that more needs to be done.

Solutions such as dredging and diversion are possible, but not without councils involvement in the project and large amounts of funding.

Committee members suggested that the first step in the “Save The Tottenham Pond” process should be seeking public input, so that “long term solutions for the pond would be in accordance with the values and wishes of the community”.

Members also noted that additional long term items requiring the communities attention at the Pond include: camping requirements, future park activities, park infrastructure and the Nolan House.
