Game cancelled – Hornets stay in fourth place

December 2, 2021   ·   0 Comments

The Alliston Hornets missed a chance for two points and an opportunity to challenge for third place in the Carruthers Division of the PJHL when the Midland Flyers opted not to show up for the Hornets’ Friday night home game at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.

It was a short notice cancellation – presumably due to weather conditions as the snow was falling.

This means the Hornets will remain in fourth place in the standings for at least another week.

The team has been steadily improving over the season and now have a 10-6-1 record – good for 21 points. That places them two points behind the third place Schomberg Cougars as of Friday, November 26.

The Stayner Siskins remain in first place in the division with a 13-2 record.

The Siskins have been a strong force in the division this season but that is no surprise. The Siskins have been strong over the past several years.

They lead the pack with 26 points.

In second place, the Orillia Terriers continue to have a good season winning 12 games after 15 times on the ice. The Terriers started off strong right out of the gate this season.

Behind the Hornets, in fifth place, the Penetang Kings aren’t having their best season.

The Kings are right in the middle of the pack with a 7-8 record including two overtime losses. They have 15 points so far.

The Caledon Golden Hawks continue to struggle this year.

After 15 games, they have only left the ice with a win three times, taking 12 losses for the season so far.

In the base, the Midland Flyers and the Huntsville Otters are having a hard time.

The Flyers have won only three games after 16 times on the ice.

The Otters have been on the winning side only twice after 15 games.

The Hornets will be back on home ice the NTRC this coming Friday, December 3, when they will host the Caledon Golden Hawks.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.
