An upgrade to the refrigeration system used to make artificial ice at the Thornton arena has come considerably under budget.
Essa township had budgeted $350,000 for the second phase of the upgrade at the arena which will see the replacement and increase in the capacity of the refrigeration equipment at the arena.
A review of tenders saw Industrial Refrigeration Systems bring in a bid of $282,165.52 including GST for the project.
Industrial also will be providing equipment which has a higher capacity than was required in the tender documents.
The contract was prepared by and the bids reviewed by Ainley Group.
Industrial of Milton has done maintenance work and a previous contract with the township.
