Highway 50 Closure

Highway 50 is closed between the 5th Sideroad of Adjala and Country Road 14 (10th Sideroad of Adjala), between Loretto and Highway 9. This closure is in effect until November 2nd. Large trucks are detoured along Highway 9 (from Northbound 50) or along the 10th sideroad (from Southbound 50) over to the 3rd Concession of Adjala, a straight North-South route with heavy-duty paving put in place for the James Dick Gravel Pit there. Cars and pickups can use the 4th of Adjala which is a slightly shorter trip from Hwy 50. Do not use the 5th, which is not only curvy and hilly, but mostly unpaved! Despite the signage, this reporter observed at least one 18-wheeler heading south on the 5th; I hope he took it nice and slow on those curves! Shortly thereafter the roads department put up the additional illuminated sign, reminding drivers to follow the detour signs, and to obey the speed limits. Hint: You’re not on Highway 50 anymore!
