Dear friends of Matthews House:
May is such a great month at hospice because it is the time when staff, board, volunteers, donors and supporters get together to show their support for hospice palliative care and to raise money specifically for Matthews House by participating in our second largest annual fundraiser, Hike for Hospice. Hike for Hospice is a unique national fundraising event that raises awareness and funds for hospice. All the funds raised by our local Hike come direct to Matthews House, helping us to continue to support people in our community.
Our 2013 event was a great success, raising over $50,000 for Matthews House. However, this year we are hoping to raise much more and we hope to do this by taking into consideration your feedback and suggestions from last year. So this year our Hike is going to be bigger, better and more fun than ever:-
• New venue for the Hike giving the option of a 2km Stroll or more challenging 5km Hike
• Everyone over the start line together at noon – a great photo op!!
• free refreshments including BBQ (with vegetarian option)
• ‘Smoothie the Clown’ and balloon fun for the kids
• Bring along your pooch for some ‘Doggie Fun’ after the Hike – goodie bags for every dog that hikes and joins in the fun
• Opportunity to buy a Matthews House Hat for wearing on the day (white with blue embroidery) at a cost of $10. Please call Lisa on 705 435-7218 or e-mail lisa@matthewshousehospice.ca to pre-order your hat. Limited availability, with only a few available to buy on the day.
The event takes place on Sunday May 4th, at the Adjala-Tosorontio Municipal Offices. Registration begins at 11 a.m., Hike from noon – 1:30 p.m., clown and doggie fun from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
