Carry Aultman submitted the story to the Kraft Hockeyville Contest that caught the judges attention. Here is her original submission:
Test of Time
This is the story of Beeton hockey, the small town that refused to give up small town hockey, we are proof that greatness can start on the smallest piece of ice.
Our hockey spirit is one that runs deep, through our children, their school and our community. It brings people out on the coldest of days to an arena that proves even colder. The old barn, yes it’s run down, yes it’s small, the washrooms are tiny, the dressing rooms are less than roomy and the lobby is a tight fit, but this is the place where the heart of our story begins.
It brings our neighbours out decked in black, yellow and white to cheer for the underdog, to enjoy not only the love of this great game but each others company. It’s the place where the team with everything stacked against them, hits the ice simply to play; win or lose because they love the game. It is where our children learn the meaning of friendship, teamwork, sportsmanship, and support.
Beeton is bursting with small town hockey pride, from the kids who wear their jerseys, to the foyer crowded with Stingers jerseys, to the stands packed with enthusiastic fans. We are the town that cheers soulfully for our kids (when I say lets go, you say STINGERS!!), claps graciously when the other teams score or make a great save, we are the true spirit of hockey.
Help us become Hockeyville so that everything that is good in the spirit of hockey can continue to make it’s home in BEE-Town.

This was the response she received:
Dear Carry,
This is a very exciting time for you and your community! As you may have just heard on CBC yesterday evening (March 9), Beeton was selected as one of the Top 16 communities for KRAFT Hockeyville this year.
This is wonderful news and you are to be congratulated, as your story submission and community support was the reason why. Your community was one of only 16 selected from the hundreds of nominations received across the country! Beeton is now one step closer to moving on to the Top 4 and may even be crowned KRAFT Hockeyville 2014!
What does this mean?
As announced on CBC this on March 9, the voting period will start March 8 at 10 p.m. (ET) and close March 10 at 11:59:59 p.m. (ET).
Now it’s up to you and your community to gain as many votes as possible to move on to the next round (Top 4 Finals). For a complete outline of key dates, next steps and all other critical information as a Top 16 Finalist, please read the attached Top 16 Community Guidebook.
Congratulations again Carry!
Have fun and remember to get everyone in town and your friends and family across Canada to vote and vote often!
