The Alliston Junior C Hornets played to 2–2 tie when they went to Penetang to take on the Kings on Friday, January 8.
The Kings opened the scoring with the only first period goal.
Alliston’s Brady Martin tied the game at 48 seconds into the second but the Kings rebounded with a go ahead goal at the 8:21 mark in the frame.
Moving into the third period the Hornets tied it up on a goal from Jordan Schwartz but that’s all they could do for the night.
The Hornets are notorious for coming alive late in the game with a season full of third period wins but in this game they fell short and just couldn’t score.
The game moved into an overtime period but with no scoring the teams retired and had to settle for the tie.
It was the second tie game the Hornets have recorded for the season.
With seven games left on the schedule for the regular season the Hornets are leading the GMOHL with 60 points and a 29–2–2 record.
The Huntsville Otters are well back in second place with 39 points followed by the Midland Flyers in third place with 36 points.
The Hornets will be back on home ice this Friday, (Jan. 15) to host the Huntsville Otters at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.
The puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
