On June 15, at 3:14 a.m. a parked Nottawasaga OPP officer observed a white 2001 Ford convertible travelling at a high rate of speed on Mill Street in New Tecumseth. As a result, the officers activated their emergency equipment and intercepted the vehicle on McGoey Street, Alliston. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officers detected a strong odour of alcohol on the his breath. Subsequently, the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment for further testing. Once the investigation was concluded, Evan Switzer, 23, of New Tecumseth was charged with Impaired Driving and driving with over 80 mg of alcohol contrary to Criminal Code of Canada. The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded. The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on July 27.
