International Plowing Match: Sept. 16–20

Mark your calendars for these events at the 2014 International Plowing Match, which takes place in Ivy from September 16th to 20th.

• Team Farmall Square Dancing Tractors always bring smiles to audience’s faces with their performances. Farmall Tractors are prime for this show because of their narrowly spaced front wheels. From 1924 to 1963, Farmalls were the largest selling row crop tractors. The show was based on championship square dances used at National Farm Shows. The Team premiered their traditional square dance show at the 2008 IPM and the show has been a high demand ever since! This show is complete with 8 full size Farmall Tractors dancing to traditional square dance music and lead by a Square Dance Caller. The Dancing Tractors will be performing for four days of the IPM 2014!

• The Canadian Cowgirls come from Chatham-Kent, Ontario. They consist of 28 women and horses, who are all tied together by the Pride of being Canadian. The Cowgirls are acclaimed for their musical performance, which dazzle audiences with their precisions riding, stunning costumes, and dangerous and daring manoeuvres. The Canadian Cowgirls will be performing at the IPM 2014 every day!

• The very popular RAM Rodeo Tour is coming back for the 2014 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo. This show is not only a crowd pleaser, but also part of the nine-event Southern Ontario RAM Rodeo series. The tour has been thrilling visitors for 15 years. The show includes bareback riding, saddler bronco riding, roping competitions, barrel racing and ladies breakaway roping. The show also features a trick riding show and rodeo clowns! Don’t miss their competitive and entertaining shows, on September 18th, 19th, and 20th!

• The Ontario Provincial Police Golden Helmets Motorcycle Precision Team began in 1963. The 20-member team is made up of OPP officers on regular patrol duties. The team consists of a Ride Master, Commentator, a motorcycle technician and 17 riders. The motorcycles used by the Golden Helmets are Harley Davidson Police Specials. They have 1690 c.c. engines and weigh 800 pounds. The Golden Helmets will be participating in the Opening Day Parade of the IPM 2014, on September 16th.
