Jordash Inc. helps to ‘Renew New Tecumseth’

September 21, 2013   ·   0 Comments

Community members helped welcome a new business into Alliston last week, with the opening of Jordash Inc. at 96 Victoria Street.

As part of the Renew New Tecumseth program, the business was able to get its feet off the ground and get up and running just in time for the fall and Christmas season.

Owner Patricia Easton was beaming with excitement at the grand opening and said she is eager to be a part of the business community in Alliston.

“I have to say that I’m very impressed with the energy of the people who got me here and also the fact that they put so much of their time to me, to help mentor me, to try their very best to help me in every aspect of getting settled in and helping me be a part of the community,” she said at the opening.

Jordash Inc. sells a variety of Canadian made art including, prints, sculptures, jewelry, accessories, home décor items and much more.

As another facet to her business, Easton is also selling Kangen Water systems, a technology that Easton said balances the body and promotes good health.

With her new store open and ready for business, Easton thanked the Renew New Tecumseth team and those that helped her get her store off the ground.

Lisa Morrison, of Renew New Tecumseth, said the program has been a boon to Alliston’s downtown core.

“We put people into empty store fronts, get the owner to donate them to us and the participants pay a small participation fee each week to be part of our program,” she explained. “It allows them to build their amazing business idea to then grow it and become self sustaining with a long-term lease. The downtown core has already seen an improvement of 50 per cent in sales from last year at this time.”

The purpose of the program was for just that – fill empty store fronts, revitalize the community and help businesses get off their feet to become long-term tenants.

Easton said the store’s first day was a success.

“Today is my launch day and I had a few people in,” she said. “I had a few sales, I’m very excited, I think it’s going to be nice for the Christmas season coming up and I’m very thankful really for everyone that has helped and come in to wish me well. I look forward to working with all of you.”

On Oct. 5 from 1 – 4 p.m., Easton will be welcoming in local artist Heidi Jordan to show her work and that day, Easton will be offering a 10 per cent discount on all prints and original artwork.
