On May 25th, the Kevin Lord Memorial Benefit Fund (KLM) held its annual fundraiser, but it was a little different this year.
The KLM was created in honour of Kevin Lord, and has contributed to various organizations since 2006, including: Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Ewing’s Cancer Foundation of Canada, and the Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Program. KLM founder, Al Lord (Kevin’s father) had previously hosted an annual dinner dance, but opted to host a golf tournament in hopes of increasing attendance and donations.
The tournament was held at the Nottawasaga Inn, and was an immediate success. Over 130 golfers participated in the tournament, and 144 people attending the fundraisers dinner portion.
The switch to a golf tournament proved to be an excellent idea, benefiting the Kevin Lord Memorial Benefit Fund and numerous local organizations.
To demonstrate support of local charities and the KLM, the Nottawasaga Foundation on behalf of the Biffis family donated $2000, something Al and Judy Lord are extremely thankful for, “The donation by the Biffis family was amazing, something we did not expect. Their donation will go a long way in helping our local charities and organizations.”
