Over the long weekend, Nottawasaga OPP continued to keep our roads safe conducting nine R.I.D.E. programs over the four day period. On October 11th at 12:59 p.m., members of the OPP received a call for a vehicle that collided into a tree on the 5th Line of Essa, south of Highway 90.
Police arrived on scene and started an investigation, as a result of their findings, 49 year old Barrie resident, Margaret May Black was arrested for one count of Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one count of exceed 80 mgs of alcohol under the Criminal Code of Canada.
She has an upcoming court date to deal with these matters at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford.
As well this weekend, on Oct 12, 2013 at 10:48 p.m., police were called regarding a vehicle on Barrie Street in Essa Township where the driver of the vehicle was slumped over the steering wheel and non-responsive with the vehicle running. Members of the Nottawasaga OPP and Essa Fire Department arrived on scene and were able to wake the male; he was arrested for Care and control of a motor vehicle, his vehicle was towed and he attended the Nottawasaga Detachment to provide a sample of his breath.
Charged is 67 year old Giuliano Battiston of Essa Township, he is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceed 80 mgs of alcohol with an upcoming court date of Nov 7th.
