Macdonald acclaimed in Essa

Sandie Macdonald, Essa’s deputy mayor for the past four years, has been acclaimed for another four year term.
When nominations closed Friday afternoon, she was unopposed for the position.
The same story didn’t happen to Baxter area councillor Ron Henderson who was unopposed until 10 a.m. Friday morning. Two other candidates have entered the race.
Ivy area resident Mike Van Tol and Baxter area resident Patricia Denney both submitted their nominations on Friday for Ward two council
In Ward Three, which includes the eastern part of the township including Thornton, Helen Barsby of Thornton has entered the race against incumbent Mike Smith and Shawn Bubel.
Current mayor Terry Dowdall will face Archie Duckworth of Angus while in Ward One, which includes Angus, incumbent Keith White will face Scott Martin.
The election is on October 27.
