Dear editor: Languishing away in drawers and piggy banks across Ontario are countless pennies, unloved and unwanted. Government has spurned them and declared them obsolete. Retail outlets have now ignored them and “rounded off” receipts to the buyer. Yet we may yet put these orphans to good use. We can donate the unwanted ones to the Madi Vanstone fund so that Madi’s lifesaving medication is paid for! Certainly this idea can help keep the ball rolling in the battle to assist Madi. If we wait for Premier Kathleen Wynne to help Madi and her family, we will wait a long time. If SImcoe–Grey were a Liberal held rising instead of one being held by our excellent Conservative Jim Wilson, perhaps Madi would have gotten a more sympathetic ear from Ms Wynne. But Ms Wynne may get a nasty surprise on June 12th. Hopefully. In the meantime, let’s get those pennies rolling for Madi!
P.S. – Comrade Richard Kelly threatens us with his painful poetry in the near future. Comrade Kelly should know where he can stick his poetry. Or, as an alternative, he can e-mail his poetry to “www.rootin.tootin.Putin.com”. I’m sure Comrade Putin will get a big commie hoot out of Kelly’s Nanny State ca-ca!

Editor’s Note: Great idea on the pennies Gord. I know I have hundreds of them in my house, lurking in drawers and jewelery boxes. I have set up an empty water jug in our front lobby (34 Main Street West, Beeton). Anyone who cares to donate their unwanted pennies to Madi is certainly welcome to drop them off here. We will collect until the end of July, and then turn the funds over to the Vanstone family.
