Nottawasaga OPP conducted a traffic stop on July 9th at 7:47 a.m. to investigate an expired temporary validation sticker on a rear licence plate of a Pontiac Montana in Essa Township.
At the time of the vehicle stop the driver identified himself with one name claiming he had left his wallet at home. During the course of the investigation, the Officer determined that the driver was not who he claimed to be through the use of the mobile work station in the cruiser. The male’s identity was confirmed and the male was placed under arrest for falsely identifying himself to Police.
Charged is 37 year old Essa Township resident David Catton, he is charged with:
Personation with Intent-Intent to gain advantage (Criminal Code of Canada)
Obstruct Police (Criminal Code of Canada)
Drive Motor Vehicle-No currently validated permit (Highway Traffic Act)
Drive while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
The male was held for a bail hearing on July 9th.
