March in like a llama

March 13, 2013   ·   0 Comments

“Coco” the llama took a 1 1/2 mile stroll to her new home across the 3rd Line of New Tecumseth last weekend from the Painted Rock Rescue Farm, owned by Laura and Barry Cameron. Frightened, cold and tired, Coco went down around the half way point until her new owner, Honey Craig covered her in a blanket and tied a towel around her neck for warmth and comfort. Honey’s helpers – Crystal Simpson and Monte Hummel – each held a lead to ensure that passing traffic (of which there wasn’t much) wouldn’t further scare the timid animal. Honey’s husband, Bruce Craig, followed the unlikely foursome by car for additional safety. Coco was successfully relocated to her new home, and although she still doesn’t want to play with the Craig family dog, is comfortable in her new surroundings. She will be joined soon by sister “Cally”, another llama adopted from the Painted Rock, this month. “Walking Coco home was a true Canadian fun experience,” said Honey Craig. “Even in the cold.” She adds, “Donations for the Painted Rock Rescue Farm are always needed.” Visit them online at paintedrockrescuefarm.com
