McDonald’s supports SMHF

Thank you to McDonald’s Restaurants for their continued generosity to Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation through their $25,000 pledge to support critical operating room equipment needs, including enhancements to the Surgical Laparoscopic Tower. This new laparoscopic technology will enable the hospital to improve Gynaecological, Orthopaedic and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) services and procedures by reducing wait times, allowing for quicker recoveries and less pain for patients while increasing the standard of care. The money raised from every full McCafé coffee card dropped in the donation boxes at both the Alliston and Angus McDonald’s will result in $1 being donated to the Foundation. On December 1, 2015, McDonald’s presented a cheque to Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation in the amount of $1,216.28 benefitting the hospital’s operating rooms. This vital piece of equipment will positively impact patient care. A female patient has just undergone a hysterectomy, where doctors use laparoscopic equipment to perform the once major procedure that often resulted in significant lifestyle adjustments, to a now reduced day-and-a-half hospital stay that allows the patient to return to normal activities after two weeks. This procedure was completed with laparoscopic equipment made possible by the partnership and generosity of McDonald’s restaurants, helping Stevenson Memorial Hospital to continue to provide excellence in health care to our patients and their families. Thank you, McDonald’s Restaurants!
