Gordon McInnes has put his name forward as a candidate in the upcoming municipal election. McInnes is running in Ward 2.
Mr. McInnes has been a resident of New Tecumseth/Alliston for 24 years residing in Ward 2 for the past 16 years.
He has enjoyed and interesting varied business career, working for a financial institution, at a multi-national consumer product sales & marketing company and setting up of his own exclusive sales agency featuring a major European manufacturing fashion collection.
The ‘Committee for the Election of Gordon McInnes’ also supplied the following information:
• Over the past 6 Mr. McInnes he has attended roughly 75 per cent of all council meetings, Committee of the Whole meetings and Special Meetings of Council, preparing prior to the meeting by obtaining and reading the agenda and all attachments.
• Mr. McInnes has also served on the following; Environmental Task Force, Heritage Committee, Downtown Alliston Task Force, the Leisure and Recreation Committee, Waste Management Committee and volunteered for the Alliston Potato Festival, and presently is Treasurer for ‘Wheels on Meals’ delivering to our seniors in our communities.
• Mr. McInnes’ Committee also states, “(Gordon) was instrumental in introducing successfully a Rugby programme into elementary schools throughout New Tecumseth. As such, he was a founding member and past president of the Timberwolves Rugby Club (Alliston) and past president and director of Rugby Ontario.
“Gordon has been actively involved in addressing needs of our community from youth to seniors by speaking out at council as well as preparing letters for the local media on many issues that have come before your council,” the Committee tells The Times. “We have confidence in Gordon’s abilities and commitment so respectfully we ask you, your neighbours, family and friends to do likewise and vote for Gordon for your Ward 2. Councillor on election day, October 27th.”
