Alliston resident, Hart Holmstrom was honoured at Monday night’s Committee of the Whole meeting on the occasion of his 80th birthday, October 6th. “We would like to take this opportunity to recognize one of our outstanding community members – Mr. Hart Holmstrom as he will be celebrating a very special day tomorrow – his 80th birthday. So far, in his 80 years, Hart has had many interesting experiences and continues to give to our community each and every day. Professionally, Hart spent 18 years in the army with NATO Peace Keepers in Germany and France and in 1974, he opened his own commercial heating and air conditioning business, which continues to be a success. Hart has been involved with the local Lion’s Club for 45 years and the Legion for 47 years. He helped start the South Simcoe Arts Council, is a member of St. John’s United Church and an honourary member of the Gibson Centre Board. He was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and was also awarded the Province’s Senior of the Year Award this year. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Hart a very happy 80th Birthday and all the best to you and your wife Marilyn in the year ahead,” said New Tecumseth Mayor, Rick Milne. Ward 3 Councillor, JJ Paul Whiteside, presented Mr. Holmstrom with a certificate from the Town.
