Waking Life Studios in Palgrave held an open house last weekend, to show off their revamped studio and offer a free BBQ to those who stopped by.
Situated on a scenic farm tucked away from hectic city life, Waking Life Studios is a new fully functioning and professional recording studio located on the top floor of a newly renovated roofed barn.
The studio’s owner Dane Polny, 24, said the studio offers a unique sound and laid back atmosphere for artists.
“We try hard to push the atmosphere,” he said. “I’m proud to be able to say that every band has come to check out the studio has come back. This is my dream.”
Having been open for about a year and with an increasing clientele, Polny thought it was the perfect time to give back a bit and show others what Waking Life Studios is all about.
Part of the event included performances from bands that have recorded in the studio.
Toronto artist Buddy Black recorded his first full-length album at Waking Life Studios and had nothing but praise for Polny and his studio.
“I’ve never sought out another place to record,” he said. “As an engineer, Dayne has been just amazing.”
Some of the services Waking Life Studios offers are: studio recording, recording sound for live events (lectures, church groups, etc.), artist consulting, mastering, recording store ads, session musicians, PA system rentals, cassette and LP restoration, karaoke, mixing and much more.
Polny also said he was holding a contest for free studio time and encouraged those interested to check out his website for details.
