North Dufferin baseball playoffs – Athletics move to next round

The Alliston Athletics Junior Division baseball team has advanced to the next round of playoffs after knocking out the Creemore Braves in two game of their best of three series.

The Athletics won their home game at the Doner Diamond in Alliston with an 8–7 win over  Creemore in game one.

Travelling up to Creemore for game two, the Alliston squad left with a 4–1 win to take the series.

The other Junior series between the Orillia Minors and Stayner Sluggers had Orillia leading 1–0 after the first game, and the second game of the series ended with a tie.

In the Senior Division, the defending champion Bolton Brewers will be up against the Ivy Leafs in the first round.

In other playoff action, the Orillia Majors will playoff against the Midland Indians.

The Aurora Jays will face the Clearview Orioles, and the Creemore Braves will battle against the New Lowell Knights.

The Junior division has not yet announced the dates of the next round depending on the outcome of the Stayner / Orillia series.

The Athletics ended the regular season with an 8–11–1 record and a fifth place finish in the six team Junior division.
