Nottawasaga Foundation donation will help furnish new hospice

Lou Biffis, president of The Nottawasaga Inn Resort and other members of the Board of Directors of The Nottawasaga Foundation presented a cheque for $5,000 to Matthews House Hospice on May 1st. This donation is to furnish one of the two bedrooms in their residential hospice to be opened this summer.

Having a safe, friendly place for family to spend the last hours with their loved one is necessary to achieve a dignified death.  At the present time there are no palliative care beds in the immediate area encompassing Alliston, Cookstown, Tottenham and the surrounding rural areas. The Board of Directors of Matthews House therefore decided to open a small two bed residence to service the community while plans are made to build a larger facility.

Over the years, the Nottawasaga Foundation has assisted Matthews House by providing funding for office equipment, renovations and a new roof.  This latest donation will enable them to help complete the furnishing of the residence.
