It may be November before all reconstruction work is completed at the County of Simcoe’s Public Works garage near Beeton.
Adjala-Tosorontio mayor Tom Walsh asked at Corporate Services committee about the schedule for repairing the damage done to the garage by a fire earlier this year. A report from county staff presented at the meeting estimates the total cost of repairs at close to $3,000,000.
Christian Meile of the Public Works department said that the office area had already been completed with the mechanical bay expected to be completed by the end of this week.
“We’re looking at a six or seven month period until all the work is done on the rest of the garage,” he said.
He said that the county has been forced to go to the shell of the building in parts of garage because of all of the damage done by the fire.
The county is faced with paying a deductible of $100,000 for the damage done on the building.
