OPP investigate fatal collision with train

At approximately 4:15 pm, Wednesday March 1, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), New Tecumseth Fire Department, Simcoe County Paramedics and CP Rail responded to a motor vehicle collision on the 6th Line, east of Tottenham Road in the Town of New Tecumseth.
The investigation reveals that a single motor vehicle was eastbound on the 6th Line when it collided with a train that was travelling southbound, crossing the 6th Line. The 6th Line was closed for several hours between Tottenham Road and the 10th Sideroad, while members of the Nottawasaga OPP Detachment investigated the collision. The single occupant, Stefano Lucchesi, age 24, of Nobleton was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Nottawasaga OPP were assisted by members of the Central Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team. Investigation is continuing.
