The OPP Central Region is warning the public to exercise extreme caution this coming weekend as the mild weather, along with additional rain in the forecast will continue the rapid deterioration and melting of any ice that remains on area lakes, rivers and streams.
The advice of Central Region OPP Chief Superintendent John Tod is very simple as “No Ice, is Safe Ice”. Please follow this very important public safety message as any ice related rescue has the potential to put the lives of many first responders at great risk.
Also with the warmer weather, wildlife of all types are also appearing or making a return to their traditional low lying areas. Motorists are reminded that wildlife are most active one-half an hour before dawn, one-half an hour before dusk and overnight. Please reduce your speed and drive accordingly.
