Members of the media were invited to the Nottawasaga detachment of the OPP in Alliston earlier today (Friday, Oct. 11th) to view numerous bags of marijuana ceased by police.
The drugs were taken off the streets yesterday around 2 p.m., after a short investigation, conducted by the Street Crimes Unit and the Drug Enforcement Unit, in a bust just off Highway 9 in the Town of New Tecumseth.
“The bags were processed and ready for the streets,” confirms OPP Constable Harry Lawrenson.
The field grown marijuana was grown and processed on the property from which it was seized and police believe that this was the total haul from the crop for the season – 25 plants.
In addition to the marijuana, a quantity of codeine pills were found as well as three guns – two shotguns and a riffle. The guns were seized in the bust, and although not properly stored, were not a factor in the investigation. 55 grams of hashish and other prescription medications were also taken.
32 year old Troy Camplong and 23 year old Kristen Gabourie, both residents of New Tecumseth, were arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. They were processed and released. Further charges may result as the investigation continues.
