Constable Harry Lawrenson, of the Nottawasaga OPP and Wendy Gabrek, editor at The Times of New Tecumseth, hosted a second successful O/TCEA event in December, 2015. O/TCEA, which stands for ‘OPP/Times Community Engagement Activities’, is an opportunity for youth, aged 12–18, to interact with police officers in a fun way. The O/TCEA plans and executes sporting activities with help from the Alliston Minor Softball Association, and its coaches players, to encourage positive relationships between police and young citizens in the hope that these bonds will help eliminate youth crime and give local police more face-time with the community. This time, the OPP took on the youth in a game of dogeball at the NTRC indoor soccer pitch. No winners were announced.
