Floyd Pinto, the incumbent councillor in Ward 1 of Adjala-Tosorontio, has registered as a candidate in this year’s October municipal election.

Pinto, elected for the first time in 2010, registered last week. He is the only candidate to have registered to run in the Ward.

Pinto lives on Highway 50 and is a social services worker. He won election in 2010 defeating Bill Boston, the second ranking candidate in a close race where Pinto received 182 votes to Boston’s 162 votes. Mary Flood took 143 votes and Steve Brockman 132. Jack Jordan, the incumbent councillor made an unsuccessful run for mayor, in 2010. Boston was a previous member of township council.

Only two other candidates have registered for this year’s election. Leo Losereit is running for mayor and Scott Anderson is seeking re-election for councillor in Ward 5. Incumbent mayor Tom Walsh is not seeking re-election.

Deputy mayor Mary Small Brett said Friday that she is very close to making a decision on her plans for this years’ election and will make an announcement in the near future.
