On June 15, at 5:38 p.m. a Nottawasaga OPP officer observed four motorcycles southbound on County Road 10 just south of County Road 21. One of the operator’s of a black motorcycle did a wheelie past the other three riders.
When the officer activated his emergency lights, the four motorcyclists drove off in a southerly direction at a high rate of speed. Due to the excessive speeds of over 212 kilometres per hour, it was not safe to initiate a police pursuit. What the four motorcyclists didn’t know was that they were approaching another Nottawasaga OPP officer and other officers were now set up assist at County Road 10 and the 5th Sideroad.
Two of the motorcyclists stopped at that location for Police and were placed under arrest for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police. Charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police are 25 year old Paul Jauch from Adjala-Tosorontio Township and 25 year old Michael Maggio from Woodbridge. Both parties were arrested for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police and transported back to the Nottawasaga Detachment; both their motorcycles’ were towed off scene.
The remaining two motorcycles fled from the checkpoint, one riding past the officers at the checkpoint, the other motorcycle did a U-turn and proceeded northbound at a high rate of speed on County Road 10. Just a short time later, police became aware of one of the two motorcyclists that fled from County Road 10 and located the male. Charged is 29 year old male, Terrence Ribeca of Brampton, with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police.
During the course of the investigation, police determined who the fourth rider was and the male was contacted and asked to turn himself into Police. Charged is 26 year old Anthony Ribeca of Brampton, with the same charges as the other riders.
