Police steady over the weekend

The OPP were steady over the weekend with 104 calls for service and many traffic stops initiated by Officers resulting in numerous charges being laid.

On April 6, at 2:40 p.m. on Mill Street in Essa, police stopped a 31 year old male from the Innisvale area, who was subsequently charged with Driving While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.

On April 7, at 4:31 p.m., a 31 year old female from Oro-Medonte was charged with Racing on County Road 56 in Essa for travelling 137 km/hour in a posted 80 km/hour zone. Her vehicle was seized and towed, and her licence suspended.

Over the weekend, police stopped a 57 year old male from Honey Harbour. He was stopped for one violation and charged with several violations under the Highway Traffic Act including Drive While Under Suspension. There were two more drivers charged with Drive While Under Suspension over the weekend as well as seatbelt violations.

Nottawasaga OPP was out conducting R.I.D.E. programs on the weekend.  On April 7, a 51 year old male from the Town of Blue Mountains was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Fail to Provide a Breath Sample. He was held for Bail Court on April 8. On the same day, on County Road 90 at 2 a.m., a 51 year old male from Oro-Medonte was found by OPP Nottawasaga officers to be driving while impaired, and this person is charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Fail to provide a Breath Sample under the Criminal Code of Canada.  Police also issued a 3-day suspension for a driver who registered in the warn range for alcohol consumption.
