President of the Board for Next Step’s, Kim Burgess addresses the crowd at the 4th annual Grate Groan–Up Seplling Bee. She shares the podium with the Queen Bee’ herself, event organizer Shira Harrison McIntyre. Winners of this years Bee were: 1. Word Warriors; 2. The Historics; 3. The Spell Checkers. Play-A–Long Winner: Ellen Ealton. Most Pledges Collected: South Simcoe Arts Council. Team Spirit: Word Warriors. Best Costume: Cheating Cheetahs. The event was sponsored by The Tooth Doctors (Alliston), Silvercrest Construction Ltd. and Small Inspirations Art Studio. Judges were: Robert Murdock, Maija Hoggett and Wendy Soloduik. Master of Ceremonies was Jack Atlas; Master Pronouncer: Laurie Laing.
