Dear editor:
This letter is in response to the lack of response by our elected officials towards the truck traffic that the residents of Beeton are having shoved down their throats. So far, the score board shows Little Mikey M. – no response; Little Rickie M. states that the MTO would probably help but I guess their phone number has been misplaced and finally Richie N., who is a resident of Beeton and if memory serves me correct, owned a business on Main Street – states he is not to sure what can be done to solve the problem. Then a councillor was over heard to say Honda and Gibson pay a lot of taxes. Correct me if I am wrong, but residents of Beeton also pay taxes and have been long before Honda arrived and Gibson jumped on their band wagon. Maybe one of our elected officials can tell the people of Beeton how much the dump trucks that go through town at ridiculous speed and have either Woodbridge or Vaughan on their trucks pay in taxes. With this extra traffic on our Main Street, it is becoming a real challenge to miss the pot holes that are popping up. So elected officials, are you going to grow some “kahunas” or are you going to keep kissing the “donkgis” of these companies and continue to disregard the people who elected you. Do we wait until election time and listen to the same old B.S. about what you will do to improve things in Beeton? There is a line in a country music song that I think says it all and that line is, “No one knows what goes on behind closed doors”.
J. Gould, Beeton
P.S. – It seems that since the first letter was put in the paper, these trucking companies have doubled their trips through Beeton and are “daring” our “high ranking officials” to try and stop them.
