On Monday, May 5, the Rotary Club of Alliston held its first annual Volunteer Appreciation and Friends of Rotary Dinner at the Gibson Centre. The event was intended to recognize and thank the many volunteers, sponsors and donors who have assisted in the delivery of Rotary programs and projects. “These individuals have shared their knowledge and experiences, as well as their time and skills to help Rotary make a positive impact on our community,” said Patricia Middlebrook, past-president. Guest speaker Rory MacKinnon, owner of the two local McDonald’s restaurants, spoke on the importance of volunteering and its influence on the community. “My address tonight is built on the theme of growing roots by participating and engaging in the community,” MacKinnon said.
