Former Mayor of New Tecumseth and Liberal Party candidate for the riding of Simcoe–Grey, Mike MacEachern, is interviewed for local channel Rogers 65, after learning that CTV News called the riding, declaring incumbent MP, Dr. Kellie Leitch, the winner. MacEachern said he learned a lot through the campaigning process, and wished to thank the many volunteers and supporters who helped him throughout the 11-week process. “Actually, it took us about a year to plan for this election,” MacEachern told The Times. “We started with four volunteers in New Tecumseth, which grew into a strong team quickly.” MacEachern said that he “stayed within his means” during his campaign and budgeted for only what he needed. He said that walking the streets of our large geographical riding gave him insight that he plans to use to continue serving the community going forward. MacEachern’s first post-election objective is a return to work, after 7-weeks off.
