Looking for an evening with friends and neighbors, good family entertainment and free refreshment? Arrive at the doors of Fraser Presbyterian Friday, October 18, 7 p.m., and you’ll find it all.

In an inspiring story, “Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family and Fighting to Get Back on the Board” Anna Sophia Robb, Dennis Quaid, Carrie Underwood and Helen Hunt portray the life of surfer Bethany Hamilton, who against all odds survived a shark attack and conquered her greatest fears.

“Life is a lot like surfing,” said Hamilton in her book depicting the accident and her survival.  “When you get caught in the impact zone, you’ve got to just get back up.  Because you never know what may be over the next wave”. Hamilton’s determination and courage so well depicted in her writing, attracted the attention of the film industry. A crew headed by Director and Screen Writer, Sean McNamara began filming in 2010 on location in Hawaii and Tahiti, the idyllic setting for the much acclaimed movie.

The evening itself is the inspiration of Fraser’s Outreach committee.

“We want to invite the neighbors to come over for a visit, reaching out to those who would enjoy a night of entertainment for the family,” explained Joanne Thornhill, a member of the congregation.  “All are welcome.”

The film is the first in a series of community events, so stay tuned for further attractions!
