The South Simcoe U12 girls went south of the border to compete in the Schwan’s USA Cup and returned with a championship title.

Over 1,000 soccer teams attended the event at the National Sports Centre in Minnesota on July 15–19, with around 15,000 players from around the U.S. and Canada taking part.

The South Simcoe United team has players from Alliston, Tottenham, Barrie, and Everett on the squad.

The team was a dominate force in the tournament scoring 40 goals and allowing only three against.

Moving into the playoffs, the United hammered a team from Alberta 10–0 in the first round.

They went on to seal the deal on the next game with an 8-0 win over a team from Minnesota to earn the right to go on to the final game.

In the final, the South Simcoe team raised the championship cup with a 5–1 win over Minneapolis United Fire.

Canadian teams had a strong showing at the tournament.

Along with South Simcoe, a team from Aurora won the U11 Girls 8×8 division.
