The Tottenham Steam picked up their third win of the season Saturday (Sept. 26) night with an 8–3 win over the Bradford Bulls.
A full house turned out to watch the Steam on home ice at the Tottenham Community Centre arena.
The Steam started off the scoring early in the first period on a goal from Thomas Freeman and that was the only scoring in the opening frame.
Matt Fischer gave Tottenham a two goal lead with a goal at 1:13 into the second period.
The Bulls managed to get on the scoreboard to make it a 2–1 game, but the Steam went ahead on another goal by Fischer.
Fischer got the hattrick at the midway mark in the third period with his third goal of the night.
Freeman got his second goal of the night in the second period with another Tottenham marker coming from Cale Markham with two and a-half minutes left in the period.
The Steam kept up the pressure going into the final 20 minutes notching two more for the evening from Markham and a final goal from Zakk Bekolay with just one second left on the clock.
The final score gives the Tottenham team their third win in as many games and no losses for the season so far.
With six points the Steam are in second place in the Central division of the Greater Metro Hockey League.
The Alliston Coyotes are currently at the top of the pack with four games played and four wins.
This week’s home game will give the two top teams in the division the chance to see who really is the top dog when the Alliston Coyotes come to Tottenham on Saturday, October 3.
The puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
