The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recruits volunteers after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Volunteers and Auxiliary members play an important role in the welcoming atmosphere at Stevenson Memorial Hospital. They help ensure the hospital is a comforting place for both patients and visitors and that it runs smoothly and efficiently.
The work of volunteers is valued by hospital staff and the community.
Volunteers are needed throughout the hospital, including in the following areas: Patient areas, emergency, ambulatory care, rehabilitation services, dialysis, diagnostic imaging, surgical day care, clinical units, information desk, fundraising events, gift shop and coffee corner, office assistance, and spiritual care visitors.
To become a volunteer, the first step is to submit an application. You will be required to complete an interview, and two references are required for each prospective volunteer.
Volunteers must be 15 or older and willing to work a minimum of one three-hour shift each week.
A Vulnerable Sector check through the Nottawasaga OPP is required. The Auxiliary will provide a letter for you to take to the OPP.
Volunteers must complete a two-step TB test provided by the hospital.
Training, orientation, and parking passes are provided by Volunteer Services. Student volunteers are asked to commit to one year of service.
For volunteers who would like to expand on their leadership experience, there are opportunities to become an Auxiliary Officer or a Convener overseeing a volunteer team.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, you can call the Auxiliary office at 705-435-3377 ext. 1281 and leave a message.
Your call will be returned.
