Guests came together to enjoy a spectacular, formal evening in support of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s “It takes you…” Campaign. A glorious evening began with music presented by our own local musicians the Chris Taggart Trio and harpist Anneliese Cameron.
The Foundation was delighted to present Kevin Frankish of BT-Breakfast Television as the Emcee and Honourary Chair of this event. Kevin did an amazing job of engaging one and all throughout the evening and took that local connection one step further, by not only providing extra enthusiasm, but as Honourary Chair he exclusively highlighted the importance of Stevenson Memorial Hospital as a gem in the community. Kevin reminded everyone, “You have a great community hospital, don’t lose sight of that.”
The Foundation Gala is about sponsors, volunteers, auction contributors and guests rallying together in support of health care. Annette Jones, President and CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital introduced the doctors and hospital staff present and proudly spoke to a very attentive crowd about the growing future and recent successes achieved by the hospital. “This event was another great example of how our community comes together to support Stevenson Memorial Hospital. What a fantastic evening” said Annette. “Thank you ALL!”
Rick Milne in his expert way conducted the live auction which featured a number of fabulous donations including exquisite dining experiences, home decor packages, golf packages, travel and theatre excursions and many other diverse items!
“Every new piece of equipment we can acquire helps attract the best doctors to our area, moves the hospital closer to being the best community hospital in Ontario and ensures that the necessary care and services are available to all of us who live and work here” says Fundraising Chair Tom Tworzyanski.
The evening included the first ever opportunity for guests to purchase shares towards priority equipment for a new Orthopaedic Program package. The opening challenge was sparked by an inspirational story by Ann and Ian Hamby. The story of their granddaughter and her experience at Stevenson Memorial Hospital brought tears to the audience as they all realized the importance of having a community hospital close to home with the latest technology and the best doctors available.
Gala Co-chairs Wendy Fairley and Sheila Kaarlela agreed “We both recognize how important community is to the health of our local hospital. People living in our community fund this exceptional equipment. It’s us who will ensure that Stevenson is here for our children and families of the future – state of the art equipment will ensure our health care needs are met in the best way possible.”
Wendy and Sheila wish to thank the committee, the wonderful sponsors and contributors, the Foundation and those who attended the Gala for their support towards our community hospital. “You are the ones who make the difference in our world!”
