Dear editor:
The list of those to thank for the success of The Beeton Honey & Garden Festival grows longer each year, as more people come forward to offer their time and resources. An event like this takes a full year to plan, countless hours from dedicated committee members, the support of local businesses, groups, the Town and many individuals. On May 25th our little village welcomed thousands of visitors from throughout the province. Our quaint Victorian Main Street was transformed, as over 170 vendors lined the road selling fresh and innovative wares of all kinds. Local vendors offered unique merchandise from farm produce to shabby chic furniture. The creations of talented local artists were available for purchase at the Artist & Artisans Marketplace. A focus on the outdoors brought forth a huge selection of all things garden related from seasonal decor, to plants, to gardening supplies. Our ‘Antique Alley’ was stocked with vintage finds including antiques, collectables, jewellery and more. Our ‘International Marketplace’ featured clothing, textiles and crafts from exotic locales. And HONEY! Lots of local honey!
Through our partnership with the South Simcoe Arts Council and the BTBIA, we were able to offer a full day of live entertainment throughout the street, in addition to free, family friendly activities at our Kids Corner. Car enthusiasts enjoyed our ‘Classic Car and Truck Show’. The ‘Great Big Beeton Bee’ Contest, presented by the BTBIA, was a tremendous success, generating ‘buzz’ throughout the day. Thank-you to the many volunteers who came out and helped the event run smoothly. Thank-you to the following for your contributions: Bo Niederhuber and the BTBIA, The South Simcoe Arts Council, The Town of New Tecumseth, Don Findlay, Richard Norcross and Colin Thain, The Ruffalo Family, Rob Sartos, Ms. Garratt & The Tec.
